THE FIELD MUSEUM'S STANLEY FIELD HALL
Chicago, Illinois The Field Museum's Stanley Field Hall in Chicago recently underwent a multimillion dollar renovation, which included 37 new display cases, designed to house changeable information about the museum and its exhibits.
Custom fabricated units were envisioned for the project, but when S2 Architects discovered the Visuline display system, with its heavy gauge extrusions and wide variety of shapes and finishes, they requested a proposal from APCO.
APCO's Engineering Department made some slight modifications to the Visuline Suspended Glass door to achieve the appearance that The Field Museum desired. Use of this standard product, as compared to custom fabricated display cases, resulted in a whopping 35% cost savings, while enhancing both appearance and function.
